Turn off read-only for ALL Word Documents

Microsoft Office 2003 Word is not allowing me to save or save as word
documents that I am making changes to.

Read-only check box is Clear in properties, but I cannot save revised Word
files with out a rdocument is read-only.

I do not want ANY read-only Word Documents on my computer. This is a work
computer for creating, saving and modifying documents; correspondence,
contact reports, etc.

Under properties, the read-only check box contains no check mark.

If the files come from a CD (or worse are being edited on a CD) they will be
read-only by design. This is true even if it is a RW CD or DVD.

To clarify. If you create a new document, can you save it? If you open that
document, can you make changes and save it?
