We have a workstation here that constantly keeps getting
the "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a
problem......."

I found instructions on how to turn off error reporting
for XP but it doesn't work on Windows 2000

Is there any way to shut it off?

TIA

Set the 'Error Reporting Service' to manual or disabled.

To turn of IEWatson (which is what the IE error reporting is officially
called),
Create a DWORD value called IEWatsonEnabled and set it to 0 in the
following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Main

I was reading more of the subject than the message body. This won't do
anything for the problem you experience. Better to ask them in an IE group.

Tell me the article you are referring to and I'll tell you what you can do if it is what I think. You can Add\Remove it too you know.

Control Panel|Admin Tools|Services

But this won't do anything for the problem you experience. Better to ask
them in an IE group.

OK I looked at it. No this doesn't exist in Windows 2000. This is because the Error Reporting tool comes in IE 5.5 and IE6. It was not included in IE 5.01 which is what Windows 2000 came with. You get it by upgrading your browser. Jason above has the fix I planned on telling you. Do that reboot and you shouldn't be bothered by it again. But note it is also in Add\Remove. You can remove it there. But if you reinstall IE or repair IE later it will come back.
