Hi, seeing as i dont have media centre installed i was un-sure where to put
this, hope its ok in Windows XP General.

OK, i dont have media centre as i said but have WIN TV installed on my
computer, i was wondering if there is anyway that i can use a remote control
to power on and off my PC... its quite a way away from my bed so id like to
be able to switch it on without having to walk all the way over to it. Im too
lazy :)

Does anyone know whether the Media Centre remote would do this even if i
dont have media centre installed?? Or any other remote that would let me??

Jeez. The epitome of laziness. Just when one thinks one has heard it all...

Get a "Clapper" and just clap your hands when you want to turn the PC on or off.

How do you survive such harsh conditions as having to walk to the bathroom or
to the kitchen? Or, having to walk out your door to reach your car or public
transportation? Please don't walk more than 15 steps without resting. Otherwise,
you are prime a candidate for a heart attack.
