Tuner Card

The Old Bloke

I bought a "Vista Certified" Compro VideoMate T750 hybrid tuner PCI card.
My PC is a Quad core Intel, running Vista Home Premium.

When I plug this tuner card into my PCI slot, Vista doesn't see it at all.
The powerlight on the card is lit.

If I plug the card into my other XP PC, on boot, the PC immediately
recognizes the new card and prompts for drivers.

Any suggestions?

drivers manually?

can you tell me how you tried it exactly ?

Also take a look at the site of the product.. it may have a FAQ

Yes I will.

The instructions were to install the card, which I did. Then I was told to
reboot and cancel any attempts to load drivers***. Then install the
software and drivers and then reboot and install the drivers.

But at ***, the card was not seen by Vista, and in Device Manager no
unrecognized device was listed. Nothing. Put it in my XP PC and
immediately XP saw the card and wanted to load the drivers.

Reseated the card, tried other PCI slots, but Vista doesn't see the card.

I am stuffed!

perhaps you should have let it install its drivers from the cd the first
time?

I know thats what the instructions were.. but Im just wondering..

Vista doesn't see the card at all. It does *not* try to install drivers.

Try another PCI slot... I know this sounds funny.. HOWEVER I have seen that
sometimes this works!

Tell me if this does anything...

hmmm, another verified case of someone who bought "Vista Certified" hardware
that doesn't work, and not one MVP or fanboy in sight.
why is that?
don't worry Old Bloke, I'm sure one will be around shortly to tell you that
it's all your fault, or that you should have done your "homework".

Doug, install the drivers first. Shut down, install card and reboot.

That is a strange one, all I can think of is to try another PCI slot to
make sure you don't just have a faulty slot, make sure the card is
completely set in the slot and nothing is stopping it from seating all
the way in (Don't get mad! it's a very easy mistake and I think most
of us here have done it at one point in time if they have installed
enough cards) and read the MOBO manual to make sure all the BIOS
settings are correct.

If possible try it in another Vista machine. I know you said you tried
it in XP, but if it still isn't seen in another Vista machine then you
can really be sure it is Vista and not something else.

I've read just a couple web sites about your card and they say it
works with Vista. (some software issues but that wouldn't be your
problem yet)

Hi Doug,

I have a Compro T300 capture card in my system and Vista Business 64
recognised it straight away so much so that Vista loaded its own hybrid file.
I loaded the software and it works fine except for lack of picture. The
hybrid file that Vista installs is different to what Compro has on their site
so I uninstalled the Vista one and installed the Compro one. The only problem
is that when you uninstall the Vista hybrid it askes you to reboot and when
Vista comes back the Vista hybrid is back there lolol. Anyway, no matter
what I did the Vista hybris won the day so I emailed Compro with the problem
and am waiting for a reply.

Unfortunately the other PCI slots don't work. They're all the same. The OS
doesn't see the card.

I will hunt around for another PCI card and see if it is seen by the OS
