ttf fonts do not display properly

Guest

Greetings

I have downloaded a number of ttf fonts. They ar
fairly new. I have seen documents create
with the very fonts. But the ones I have don'
display the right font shape when I click o
them. They all show a san serif like font (the font
are not supposed to be English but when
click on them, they show the phrase "Jackdaw
love ..." in English in a san serif font)

Any hints

Many thanks in advance.

How reliable was the source from which you downloaded these fonts? I don't
think of fonts as something computer users typically switch up or rename
improperly in order to mislead others, but of course it's possible. What's
more relevant, though, are the fonts you were attempting to acquire? I
might be able to help with that.

Many thanks for your prompt response. The source is ver
reliable. It is a not-for-profit organization. One of th
fonts is roya.ttf. While there are many versions of thi
font on Internet, some are very old and thus not
dependable

Some of the fonts from the same source look just fine
Others give a san serif like look (in English). I'd be happ
to give the link (it requires several click to get t
the fonts

This font is interesting. It was previously unknown to me, but then again
it's Persian and I'm in Montana. I acquired (from a legitimate source)
and tested the font on my system and it didn't work properly...which
tells us nothing about why it won't work on your machine, but...

It's not so uncommon for fonts to conflict with each other, and
having too many is just torture for a computer. I would suggest a program
like Adobe Type Manager Deluxe 4.1 or something along these lines. It will
tell you lots of information about a font, including whether or not it is
installed properly and if it has conflicts with any other font you have
installed. Also, maybe there is a foreign language add-on for Microsoft
Windows that applies here...enabling fonts such as Roya.ttf.

Sorry I couldn't help out more. Let me know if you've had any success since
you responded last.
