Hi,

When a remote terminal server clinet on Win2k pro connects to a Windows 2000
terminal server on port 3389 over ADSL (fixed IP), is it possible to print a
file from the server to a local printer on the remote clinet ?

I read an article on printer redirection but dont you need to actually be
connected to the network with ethernet, vpn etc to get this to work ?

Thanks for any advice.
Scott.

Yes this is supported and it works over TCP Port 3389. The user needs to select the Remote Desktop Client option to connect the local printer. If using TSWeb this is also configurable in the default.htm file.

Not all printers will work (by default), but any remote printer that has a Windows 2000 built in driver in the server should connect.

This is a has some good infor on TS Printing

If you need a very configurable program to all any kind of remote printer to work check out something like ScrewDrivers from tricerat.

has a whole section on printing. Check it out!
