Trying to upgrade Premium to Ultimate, but pc does not read DVD

I am Trying to upgrade Premium to Ultimate service pk1, but pc does not read
DVD.
I have bought an ugrade to Ultimate, I am running VistaPremium 32bit, and
when i insert the dvd into drive it does not recognise the disk, and
eventually I get a message to insert disk. I have tried other DVD's and they
seem to play ok.
When I click on the drive in explorer the disk then just ejects. I
apparently have to do an upgrade NOT a clean install.
i have even tried to boot up with the upgrade DVD and still no joy.
please advise what else I could try.
many thanks

peter

In explorer are you able to read the disk?
If not, and other disks are fine it might suggest a problem with the disk

Be sure to wipe the dvd with a soft dry cloth and try again. Assuming you
are using the 32bit dvd and are loading it after your VHP desktop has loaded
you should be seeing an installation splash screen. You can also use
Compuer to navigate to the dvd and look for Setup.exe. Doubleclicking
should start the installation routine.

Will it read other DVDs?
If not, even though some people say never use a CD/DVD cleaner disk, I would
it in a case like that to be sure the read head on the deck isn't dirty.
