Trying to update to latest ATI Catalyst drivers for Radeon card-get error message??

I have been able to download an update my Radeon 9500 AGP ard (on Win
2k sp4) with no problem. But their latest drivers
wxp-w2k-catalyst-7-991-040224m-013831c.exe on their site gives me an
error sayins it cannot unpack the file and that the file os corrupted.
I then tried the smaller singl updates and received same error. Sent
error to ATI but no response yet.

Any ideas? I have nothing running in Systray except speaker icon. No
strange services running and no viruses. Checked all that beforehand.

Thanks for any input.

Sincerely
Joe

Have you cleaned out all your temporary files folders ?

Have you deleted the folder that is created ,
c:\ati\support\<driver-version>

Have not done the above but did run special uninstall utility from ATI
that was a separate download. Next time I Ghost my C drive I will give
it another shot. Shoddy installation packaging if you ask me.
But then again perhaps I am one of the few getting this error. Also
never got it before and had the card about 9 months and updated 2
times.

Thanks,
Joe

Like he said, clean out the /windows/temp/ folder and try again.

Seems strange, certainly sounds like a corrupt download. Works fine for
me - I downloaded about 2 days ago.

Same here. Certainly sounds like a corrupted download. If the same
happened with the combined file and the separates, perhaps you should be
examining your connection. Do you get many downloads that give you
problems?

Never had a corrupted download before unless it was from a bogus site or something.
May try downloading again after cleaning out temp directories and such.
In the past I could update the Catalyst drivers without uninstalling the old ones.

Oh well.

Thanks so much.

You could also try deleting the ATI file on your C: drive, Joe. That's
where the files are unpacked to.

Thanks all. Cleaning Windows Temp directory did the trick.

Appreciate all your help
Joe.
