Just got a new computer and trying to setup a WM account. We have charter
which is a pop3 email account. put all information in and it keeps stating
the error below: I have turned the email scanning off. not sure what else
to do. Please help, I am beginning not to like Vista if you have to use
WIndows Mail instead of Outlook which i never had problems setting up.
Thanks for the reply. Account: 'mail.charter.net', Server:
'mail.charter.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user name
or password.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error
Number: 0x800CCC92

Try using your whole email address as the user name, or if you are doing
that, try just the first part.

unfortunately i have already tried that and it didn't work either. i have
also
deleted the accounts and put them in again. i have also went on to our
charter help and verified that the pop accounts were suppose to be
mail.charter.net. any other things you can think of? It seems as if there
are others having this problem, i wander if this is common for WM. first
time i have used it so not sure. Thanks for the idea though.

Had the same problem, turned out to the ISP started requiring all user ID's
be lowercase (and of course didn't tell anyone of the change ahead of time).
If that doesn't work it's time for a phone call to the ISP, painful as those
are.
