Trying to setup a removable disk

I purchased an external IBM removable disk for my T40 and
installed it in the extension bay. The PC identifies it
as a disk drive but in the Computer Management -> Disk
Management it shows as Disk 1 unknown and unallocated.
The program does not allow me to create a partition..

I would appreciate any assistance how to configure the
disk so I can have a recognizable disk drive (with its own
letter). Thanks in advance.

Have you enterd into setup and see if your CMOS see's this
drive as a secondary slave and are the jumpers set
correctly there are many answers to this more info feel

extention bay means ultrabay2000?
what is looks like in BIOS
which Hard disk drive did you install on ultrabay 2000 second HDD Adapter?
is jumper setting are right?
