trying to repair W2K

M

matt

My laptop suddenly stopped allowing me to boot my system
saying i had a missing or corrupt file in the WINNT\SYSTEM
folder. So I ran a W2K Setup floppy and it stops telling
me the following: INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or
missing. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.

Does anyone know how I can get around this?

Thanks,

matt

My guess is that it's telling you the truth. You probably
just have a bad floppy. Try recreating the setup disks
using new or at least different disks.

You know if you don't want to go to all that trouble, try
running chkdsk against disk #1 of the setup disks. I have
seen chkdsk successfully repair floppy errors before.
