creating boot disk from Windows 2000 Pro

gh

After creating a boot disk from W2K,
d:\BOOTDISK\makeboot.exe a: , I then tested to see if it
would boot properly. (NO WAY,, get ERROR.... txtsetup.sif
is corrupt or missing.)

The file is on the floppy. Did the 4 disk create process 3
times, same thing.

The machine is a Toshiba laptop. I had been running Me,
upgrated to Windows 98, then to 2000.

I want to format I hard drive, but not before I know I can
reload from my floppy boot disk to activate my CD drive to
reload Windows 2000.

Anyones Assistance would be appreciated

If you can set your bios to boot from cd
you will not have to make floppies...
the cd is bootable

Don't know why it would always look for txtsetup.sif. That is used for an
unattended install. Is your Windows 2000 CD an OEM copy? In any case you
can either make the boot disk from another CD or go to
http://www.bootdisk.com to make any type of boot disk that you want.

I have the exact same problem.

Can't seem to get around it. Have tried bootdisk.com too, all that
site does is supply the same files the CD does when it builds boot
disks.

Any help appreciated, as I've now got a computer with no operating
system on it, thanks to this problem.

Thanks

Are you not able to boot from the cd?, you may have to enable cd boot in the
bios to do this.

If you are going to format the hard drive anyway, you can just use
Win98 boot disk to load your cd rom drivers, then fire up Win2k fro
there. All boot disks are available for download a
http://www.bootdisk.com/ if you want to download and test one befor
you 'flatten' the hard drive. The Win2k cd will then give you th
option to partition, format etc during setup.
