Trying to print from laptop to host printer wirelessly

Hi there everyone alright heres the problem my dad wants to be able to print
stuff from his works laptop to his other computers printer. I setup a home
network on it so that it would see his other computer. Then I went into
printer and faxes and added the printer. I printed a test page ok and then
even printed a page from microsoft word fine. As soon as he goes on the
internet it disables the printer and I have to restart the computer and go
through all the steps again. I suspect it has something to do with the way
his work has their network setup so he can work from home. The laptop is
using windowsxp pro and the host computer is using windowsxp home edition
although I don't think that should make a difference because my computer
upstairs uses windowsxp pro and can print fine wirelessly to the host
computer. If there's any other info you need please let me know and please
help. Thanks in advance.

When the notebook goes online, does it contact your Dad's server at work?
If it does, that would explain it since the notebook cannot belong to two
networks at one time, so it would disconnect from your home network and
connect to the work domain.

Yeah I think it does because in order for him to even access the internet on
his laptop he has to go through their server. If this is the case would that
mean he wouldn't be able to print wirelessly at all then? Thanks for the
quick response and all the help.

Since the notebook can only 'belong' to one network at a time, he would have
to disable access to his work domain in order to be able to print to your
home network.
