trying to link wpl file to powerpoint

I'm trying to link a playlist (wpl file) to a powerpoint presentation. I
followed instructions to insert a sound file, but it shows up as a movie
file. When I tried go to custom animation to cause it to play throughout all
the slides, I got a message saying that Powerpoint wouldn't recognize wpl
files. I created the playlist from a CD that I saved to file on the computer.

You can't insert a WPL file as a sound file. You'll have to go to View >
Toolbars and pick the Control Toolbox. Click on the icon in the lower right
corner. Select the Windows Media Player control. Use your cursor to drag a
rectangle on the slide for the player. Right click the rectangle and select
Properties. You'll need to paste the full path to your WPL file in the URL
field. For example -- C:\Documents and Settings\Sonia\My Documents\My Music\My
Playlists\Brian.wpl.

Note that this will not work if the presentation is played in the Viewer.

I forgot to mention that this will not play across files.

Here's the way I would handle the situation. Rip the sound tracks to WAV files
on the hard drive. Use a sound editing program (Sound Forge is my choice) to
splice them together as single MP3 file. Then use insert the MP3 and set it to
play for 999 slides.

Playlists only work with PowerPoint 2003 - look here:
