trying to install scanner

A friend has given me a HP Scan jet 3200C scanner.

i have it hooked up physically, no problem.

put in disc that came with it and it says could ruin my
computer, that it has the wrong label on it for my
computer

i have a HP with windows XP home edition.

can you give me some help

can i go somewhere on computer to get proper software to
instaall scanner, or buy it somewhere
