Hard drive failed right after complete back up.....restored Outlook but Task
list didn't restore....still have complete backup, but don't know where/how
to get old task list into restored Outlook (2003) on new drive.

I did that.....all the folders are there, but there is no "Task List" folder
and I can't figure out a way to get to it.

Depends on how you restored. All data is kept in a pst-file so connecting to
your recovered pst-file by File-> Open-> Outlook Data File... should display
your all the contents. For additional information see;

What Task List are you refering at? Tasks are kept in the Tasks folder.

For some reason there is no Task List folder in the .pst file on the back up
drive. I will try again when I get a chance, but I couldn't find it there
before, so am not hopeful.....Thanks for responding. I don't think we need
to continue unless there is something else to try.

Make sure you are either in the Folderlist Navigation or Tasks Navigation.
The Mail Navigation only shows mail folders.
