Trying to defrag.

I'm running XP Home Edition without the SP2 upgrade, and when I run defrag,
says I need to run scandisk or chkdsk before able to defrag. Scandisk does
not exist on my computer but chkdsk does. Does scandisk come in XP Home
Edition?

scan disk does not exist in XP, use error checking
instead, to find this go to "help and support" and type
error checking

chkdsk by start,my computer,right click the drive you

want checked like C: , properties,tools tab,check both
boxes to repair,apply,it should give you the message
unable to do till next restart,clikc yes,and restart your
computer,it may take 20 minutes up to a couple hours for
it to run depending on size of drive amount of bad
sectores.
