scandisk will not scan C drive

Starting in early August, I discovered that I could not
run scandisk (Win XP Pro) to check/fix any problems on my
C drive. Seems to run fine on other physical drives
(e.g. D and E). Tried disk defrag and it would not run
either as it was "waiting for chkdsk to run". Worked
with my tech support and they also could not get scandisk
to run. They seemed confident that this "issue" was
fixed in SP2. Comments?

There is a known problem with ZoneAlarm (after ver.4) interferring with the
scandisk in XP.. This MIGHT be the problem in your case.. Do a search in
your preferred search engine for anything related and you will find this
reference more than likely.. i went back to an older version of ZA and was
then able to run the system file check on reboot as i used to do once a week
or so. Whether this is a Windows-based problem or a Zone Alarm problem may
be a chicken/egg issue...
