Trying to copy from pc > CD to play on normal player

I recently created a movie file in both moviemaker & photostory. Both files
play fine on the pc. Had trouble putting them on DVD. Was able to copy them
both to CD. Again on the pc both files are fine. But how do I get them to
play on a regular CD/DVD player? My DVD player just comes up w/msg Data
disc, then nothing. CD player basically does nothing. TIA

Copying your completed .wmv files
to a CD or DVD creates a simple
Data disk that will not be recognized
in a stand alone DVD player.

You need software that can create a
VCD (Video CD) on a CD blank or a
Video DVD on a DVD blank. And it
must be compatible with the file formats
of PhotoStory and Movie Maker.

John,
Thanks for all those links. I have to look thru them. Somehow I was able to
transfer a couple of movie files last yr.
I don't think it was w/Sonic. I *think* all I did was copy them from the
desktop, which is what I tried this time.
I don't use Sonic eventhough it came w/this HP machine. For some reason it
likes giving errors.
I had actually uninstalled it just for that reason.
I have Nero that I use often, but that along w/WMP & Real doesn't like
finding these files.
Neither does another program I have Copy2Dvd.

I am just very confused. Had I never done tis before it would be 1 thing.
But since I did manage to do it
last yr. is what confuses me. Granted I am prone to sr. moments from time to
time.. lol

You're welcome...and I guess you are just thinking
out loud because I don't detect a question in there.

Maybe you previously had authoring software that
was compatible with .wmv files and now you dont.

John, Afa I recall I have not removed any authoring progs. And the only
photo/movie prog. I added has been MS Photostory.
That is outside of a couple of Kodak & HP s/w updates. But that is for
photos & shouldn't affect movie type files, right?
But I do apprec. all the info you are providing.
