trying to add a new laptop to network

i am trying to add a new laptop(LOKI) to my home net, this machine is XPsp2,
only have client for ms net, file and print share, Qos and tcp/ip installed.
i can ping all machines by number not name.
on LOKI i cant see anyone else, on all others i can see LOKI but path not
found.
other machines are EVIL-1= XPsp2 same settings as Loki, U13FU=win98se and a
laptopthat can only acess the others but not be accessed.win2kpro.

if you can ping the ip but no name, this could be the name resolution issue.
