Truncated message

I am trying to administer our group policy via our Windows 2K server but get
the following message amongst many similar ones....

Administrative Templates

The following entry in the [strings] section is too long and has been
truncated.

This policy setting allows you to manage a list of web sites that will be
allowed to open pop-up windows regardless of the Internet Explorer process's
Pop-Up Blocker settings,\n\nlf you enable this policy setting, you can enter
a list of sites which will...

This is becoming annoying as it is happening on all of our servers. I then
followed instructions as in the article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=842933. This again proved to
be annoying as i kept getting the error message

Security Accounts Manager initialisation failed because of the following
error: Directory Service could not start. Error status: 0xc00002e1. Please
click OK to shutdown the system and reboot into Directory Services Restore
Mode, check the event log for more information.

I then proceeded through the Microsoft article 258062 with all services on
the server proving to be working fine. I defraged the AD database etc etc but
ended up having to rebuild the server. I now don't want to put the patch onto
the other servers as i will have to rebuild them aswell and these servers
have more critical applications on them. Has anyone had a similar problem and
if they did have, how did you fix it!!

Cheers

Simon,

I will be watching this thread. I have the same issue. Thank you for
posting. I was going to do the same fix this weekend. I think I will wait and
see if a MVP has a fix for your issue.

It was a nightmare for me yesterday, and i just wish i could ignore the
truncated message but it is a pain, but what was a pain was having to rebuild
the server. The users were not singing my praises!!

I hope someone can shed some light on this problem!!!!
