True Type Fonts that work under win98 do not work under winXPpro

I have backed up my collection of fonts from my windows 98se computer(burned
them to a CD) and then reformatted the HD and installed WinXPpro. After
restoring fonts from the CD many of the fonts that have worked under win98 do
not work under winXP. Is there a reason for this?
Thanks for any help you can lend.

Hello Patrick,
How did you go about installing the fonts back into the Windows fonts
folder? Just copying them there does not install them. The process to
install fonts is through the fonts folder in Control Panel.

After opening the fonts folder in control panel, go to 'file\install fonts,
and choose the folder location or disk that you have the fonts stored on and
highlight the fonts that you want windows to install.

Hope this helps you,

Luther

I am not talking about installing them... you should be able to double click on
a font anywhere and have the font viewer show them.
Even double click them right off the cd and have the font viewer display them
However many come back with the error that they are not valid font files.
