Hi Guys,

I need help troubleshooting a slow network connection on a PC. The PC
is a P4 3.2 GHZ with 1 GB RAM, 10/100 Nic. It is running Windows XP
Professional (SP2). I can browse network folders without any problem,
but doing things like connecting to the company intranet (via
double-clicking Internet Explorer) and pinging the server are very
slow.

What can be causing this? There are 2 identical machines to this one on
the same network that are not having these types of problems. I have
compared the number of packets going in and out on the problem machine
with the other two machines and that is identical. The machine is free
of viruses, spyware, adware, etc. Could this be a faulty NIC? Where do
I begin to troubleshoot this problem?

Thanks

Have you double checked your DNS settings? If you're on a company network I
would assume it should be pointed to the internal DNS server. If it's
pointed to the outside world you could have issues.

Can you browse them by IP address instead of name?
