They're probably better since they're components run at lower currents.

Shutting down like you describe is not usually a symptom of bad capacitors,
but you may want to check the capacitors on the motheboard and make sure
none of them are bulging or leaking. If they are, they can be replaced but a
replacement motherboard is the best bet. Also, if you have it plugged into
an older surge protector, it may be time to replace it.
