troubles with configuring outlook 2003

I receive the message box, "conecting to microsoft exhange server. Your
microsoft exchange server is unavailable. retry, work offline, cancel." if
i select work offline or cancel it closes outlook and I can not configure
anything. I have tried uninstalling and still didnt work. Any suggestions
would be great. Thanks
 
Close Outlook, then configure it with the 'Mail' Control Panel applet.
Make sure you have all the information to set up your POP/SMTP, IMAP, or
Exchange Server client account.
