trouble with XP and iTUNES/iPOD (XP verify)

i bought an iPOD and it wouldn't run off windows 98, so i bought windows XP.
i installed XP and it works great, i installed iTUNES & quicktime to windows
and iTUNES doesn't work, but quicktime does. every time i try to open iTUNES
it gives me an error and tells me that i have to register my version of XP on
the microsoft website and get it verified (piracy and all). well the only
problem is is that i don't have the internet at home and i can't do that, and
i don't want to get a phone line and pay for one month of service just to
register XP, and pay all the activation fees that go along with all of that
is outrageous....

well my quesion is is can i go around that or call microsoft over the phone
(cell phone) or do something so that i can get it running properly and not
get the internet?

Start the activation and select the "Activate by telephone option" After you specify which country you will be calling from an 800 number will be displayed for you to call. Takes about 5 minutes to complete the activation.

ok i got it to work, but on a different computer...after i called the number
i verified the windows edition and all, but my Ipod still didn't work, then i
figured out that my computer only had 233 MHz, and come to find out that is a
really really old computer, thanks for your help!!!!
