trouble with using quicktime on xp

I know quicktime is an apple program but I need it to use certain sites on my
computer.For a couple months now I have tried to download the updated
Quicktime version and it tells me I cannot remove the older version from my
computer and contact tech support.I have tried going to add/remove programs
and it says it is unable to locate quicktime.I am frustrated and just want to
fix this.If someone could give me very clear instructions or point me in the
right direction of someone that can I would be grateful.

Quicktime is a monster to be avoided at all costs!

install quicktime alternative, that is basically quictime without all the
clutter and
bloat.
