Trouble with Internet Explorer 6 and Java?

For the past few days, whenever I try to watch a video on YouTube, i get this
message: "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of
Macromedia's Flash Player. Click here to get the latest flash player."

My Flash Player is up to date (or so the site tells me every time I try to
update it) so I'm assuming the problem is the JavaScript. Only I never turned
it off, so I don't know how to turn it back on.

Hi,

What is the version of the operating system that you are using. And did you
try resetting the IE to its default settings. Click on Tools | Options and
then click on the advanced tab.

There will be a button restore defaults. Click that. And Java has nothing to
do with Javascript. Both are different.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm running Windows XP Media Edition, with IE 6.0. I tried restoring the
defaults and still have the same problem.

I recently ran McAfee QuickClean; one of the options that was checked as a
default was an "ActiveX and Plug-in Cleaner". I'm wondering if this did
something to the Flash Player?

The Adobe Flash site won't update my Flash Player, because as far as it's
concerned, I'm up to date. Is there a way I can uninstall the Flash Player,
so that I can then re-download it? I can't find the Flash Player in the
Add/Remove Programs list.
