Trouble viewing web page protected by .htpasswd

I have a web site user (running IE6.0 on Win98) who is trying to access a web
page that is protected by .htaccess/.htpasswd.
When he hits the login button, he does not get the pop-up window in which
one will type the ID and PW. Instead, he is automatically getting directed to
the access denied page. Any idea what may be causing this in IE6.0?
Thanks,
Suzy

Hi,

Try the following:

Open Internet Explorer.
Click on Tools, Internet Options.
Click on the security tab.
Click on the "custom level" button.
Scroll down to the "User Authentication" section.
Select the "Prompt for Username and Password".
Click OK to exit the custom level settings box.
Click OK to exit Internet Options.

Try clearing you cache, and then see if it works.

Best regards,

Altrus
