I've read through all the other listings where others were having this same
problem.. but i'm still not sure what to do?? I have windows media .. and
when i try to turn off my computer, it hangs on "saving my settings".. and
like others i've read, .. i have to push the button and turn off my computer
mannually. i'm not that computer literate, so i'm kinda stumped as to what
to do..
any help would be greatly appreciated... i've checked out the different
site, but i'm just not able to understand about what to do?
thanks for any help or suggestions....

Hello,
See Windows XP Shutdown & Restart Troubleshooting at
http://aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm

See what Event Viewer has in it's log. Select Start button/ select Run , then type in

eventvwr.msc<enter>

-- or Go to Control Panel / Performance and Maintenance/Administrative Tools >Event Viewer.

Review the sections and look for Errors or Warnings.
Double click---the information "may" give a clue.

hello.. i checked out eh "event viewer" and here's a couple of things that i
found.
Under "Applications":
....Yellow triangle w/exclamation point: warning.. 7-11-06...Unserenv
....Red error circle: Error...7-9-06...MSNerror Reporter
....Red error circle: Error...7-9-06...application on hang

Under "System":
....Red error circle: error...7-14-06.. Service Control Manager
....Red error circle: error, 7-14-06...DCOM
....yellow triangle w/exclamation point: warning...Tcpip

What do these mean.. would they have anything to do with my shurt down
errors??
thank you !!!!!!

ok.. i have a question.. i opened up "safely remove hardware" icon.. and i
thought that window should be empty, except when you're using a flash drive
or the card readers. When i opened it up... in that window it contained
the following:
USB Mass Storage Device
Samsung CF card reader G
Samsun MS card reader H
Samsung SD card reader I
Samsung sM/XD card reader J
I didnt' have any cards in the card readers, so didnt know why these were
listed in the "safely remove hardware" ?????
could this have something to do with shut down problems??

i have found that if i empty the "safely remove hardware" window fo rthe USB
Mass Storage Device, ... I am then able to shut down my computer just fine.
And then when i restart the computer.. the "safely remove hardware" icon is
down along the bottom, and i double click it and bring it up and the USB Mass
Storage Device is listed there again ?!?! How am I able to "not" make it
show up there ???
I think thats where my problem lies..

Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been prepared for
"safe removal", but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47)

To fix this problem, unplug this device from your computer and then plug it
in again.
...the above is what appears in the Device Manager under properties for the
Mass Storage Device..
and there isn't anything plugged in .. to take out???
