Trouble running DOS program

J

Jeff Malka

I am using XP Home and am having trouble running a DOS program that used to
run fine under NT4. When I click on its executive or its pif file, I get an
error message that says "Runtime error 200 at ........" and then the screen
shuts down immediately.

I've tried running it under W95/98/NT4 compatibility modes with no
difference.

Is there a way I can get this simple DOS (FSB.exe) program to run under XP
Home?

Thanks.

Thank you for replying. I went to
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q314106
and followed their checklist. Config.nt and autoexec.nt are exactly the way
they say they should be.

The DOS program (a genealogy program, FSB.exe) always gives the following
error when I start it:

Runtime error 200 at 16FE:0091

which I think seems to be a memory error. Any suggestions as to what I
could try to make it work?

Thanks.

Greetings

Im not very experienced with DOS apps in Windows XP. If you can contact the
maker of the program and see what tips they offer for running the program in
Windows XP.

Just accept the fact you may never get it to work the way you want, if
at all.
