Trouble Preparing Tapes in RSM

E

Eric

I have had a little trouble in the past, but I can't get
RSM to "Prepare" any of my DDS tapes. I have forced RSM
to create a new RSM database a couple of times as a
reset, but that doesn't seem to help. Did this by
renaming the files under the Ntms folder. Since I can't
Prepare the tapes I can't get NT Backup to recognize the
tapes ant therefore not backup. So when I put a new tape
in the drive it shows up in RSM titled "unrecognized
Idle/New. So then I right click on it and
click "Prepare". It immediately moves into free media
after warning me that it is attempting to format the
tape. Then after a couple of minutes or so it will give
this error under work queries and as a window message
saying: "Library Python 06408-XXX SCSI Sequential Device
couldn't write to media "1". Eject it, fix the problem
(see the event log), and try again."

The tape is then titled as Free Media Idle/Unprepared.
At this point there is nothing I can really do. Does
anyone have an idea what may be happening here? Thanks,

Eric
