Trouble playing *.wmv files

Recently my pc locks-up when playing saved or e-mail *.wmv files. It starts
but locks up, mouse and all.

The problem seemed to started with the "No Disk Exception Processing Message
c0000013 parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c". I was unable to find the
answer for that problem so I turned it off by changing the Registry Windows
errorcode key with a 2. The exception message no longer shows.

My PC used to play video files with no problem. It now starts to play the
*wmv files but the pc freezes and I must reboot. I've downloaded media player
updates with the same problems. Any help or suggestions?

I haven't used the event viewer before so I have been trying to figure out
what to do. Many errors are showing up with the most recent being an event
ID7001 under system fault as a disabled or no enabling devise. Under
application it faults wmplayer Cat 101 Event 1002. Another one is a hanging
application PerfNet event 2004.

If you can give me more details on where to go from here, I would appreciate
it.
