Trouble moving items out of Calendar using Archive

I'm trying to archive and remove calendar entries for the years 2003-4 from
my Calendar in Outlook 2002 (XP).

However, because I've imported the calendar from another source today, and
because Archive works by "last modified/accessed" date, Archive sees all the
calendar entries as having today's date.

I tried sorting by the data by "start date" and deleting those from the
appropriate years, but all recurring entries are also deleted. For example,
deleting my wife's birthday (a repeating entry) in the year 2003 also deletes
the recurrance for 2006 etc.

Is there any way to delete calendar entries from specific years, without
causing future occurances to be deleted as well?

Thanks!

You can manually drag/drop the items from your live calendar to the archive
folder to get around the creation/modification date issue

Thanks, Vince. I have close to 2000 entries, so I guess this will take a
while ;)

An option to have items archived by their start date, rather than accessed
date, would be very helpful.

Recurring items are single entries, not one entry for each recurrence. Open
the item and modify the starting date if you don't want to see prior
occurrences.

Not importing is another approach. Instead, use File>Open>Outlook Data File
and open the other PST. Modified dates don't get touched that way.

Hi, Brian.

This sounds promising. Let me see if I understand your suggestion correctly...

I synchronized the data from my Blackberry into my regular calendar folder
in Outlook. Instead, you're suggesting that if I were to import the data to a
*different* pst folder and then import that folder into my regular calendar
folder, it would work??

Or does this extra information about the data coming from a synchronization
mess-up things?

Apparently you don't understand my suggestion. The very first thing I said
was "don't import". Moreover, I don't see anything in your original post
mentioning a Blackberry. How did that enter the picture? You were asking
about archiving and said that importing a PST changed the modified dates. I
said that you should not be importing from a PST. Just open that PST and
the dates won't be touched.
