I have been having alot of trouble installing XP. I am
trying to install on a new 80Gb hard drive. I have so
far attempted to install direct from the CD, it formats
the drive perfectly (no warnings or hiccups) then when it
moves to installing the set-up files it says that it has
failed to copy certain files, these are always different
on each attempt. This usually results in a blue screen
with an error message stating that windows has detected a
fatal error and has shut down to prevent damage occuring
to the hard drive.
So then I installed Windows 98. No problems there worked
perfectly the first time. Then I went for the upgrade
option from the windows disk. Everything was proceeding
until the last minute when the blue screen again
appeared. Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this
and what I can do to rectify it.
Thanks
