trouble installing drivers

I an running Windows 2000 server on a white box with ECS K7VZM motherboard
with integrated Realtek 8139c lan and AC'97 sound. The initial installation
did not install drivers for them and the hardware trouble shooter shows the
PCI controller, ethernet controller and sound card disabled. I have
downloaded the proper drivers and installed them several times with reboots
but windows won't recognize them. This is so frustrating because I just wiped
Redhat 9.0 off the system and it recognized all my hardware and installed
drivers for them no problem and all the hard ware worked. I had to add a
3c905b nic to the box just to install networking.

were they *specifically* win2k drivers?
if not, they won't work

I am surprised the install did not recognize your hardware. The hardware it is going to recognize shouldn't be older than
year 2000 but even then it should have installed approriate drivers. I see you installed that type of NIC. That one
actually had problems in Windows 2000. Is that the PCI version? But basically what is your question? Do you want
to know how to install hardware drivers? It looks like you've done that. If they aren't recognized then I think that's the
reason for philo's question. It wasn't malplaced. That's basically what I'd say, "Make sure the drivers you install are
Windows 2000 compatible." You know if you've tried that and it still doesn't work consider Windows 95 drivers.
You'd be surprised how well Windows 2000 works with Windows 95 stuff.
