trouble dragmenting hard drive

I am trying to defragment my hard drive on a HP laptop,
and it starts to defragment and when it get to around 20-
25% done, it stops gives me the option of seeing a report
and says that it can't continue because certain files
won't allow it to continue. I can't see the whole file
name, but they are from my documents and backup files. In
all it is about 15 to 20 files on the report. What can I
do to defragment 100%?

Sounds like a few dicky files mate, try scandisk first

with repair selected.
