A microsoft representative told me that I could burn
documents and audio files onto a CD by dragging and
dropping into the D: drive in Windows explorer. I have
tried this a few times and am wasting CD's because each
time the Wizard says that it cannot write the information
to the CD.

I am using Windows XP operating system on a Dell Inspirion
4000, which originally had Windows ME.

Thank you,

Valbona

You cannot drag and drop direct to a CD; the inbuilt system instead
stashes the files in a holding area, from which you later Write Files to
CD (from the drives item in My Computer). You can make Audio CDs by
using Windows Media Player, putting together a playlist that will fit on
the CD, and then using the Write to CD in its left panel. For a true
drag and drop you still need one of the third party 'packet writing'
programs - see http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpcd.htm for more
