Hi I have tried serveral time to remove trojan.nameshifter from my pc and it
keeps comeing back. I have booted in safe mode normal the whole 9 yards and
it keeps coming back. I have run MS anti-spyware, spy-bot, ad-aware. They
all find the threat and claim to remove it but as soon as I hit the internet
adds pop up and some random name *.exe will be in the task manager. Has
anyone heard of this one and more importantly I how do I get rid of it.
Thanks in advance.

Jason,

Nope, haven't heard of it until your post. Could you do a scan of the
system with Hijack This and then email me the log ?
Download Hijack This from here
:http://www.aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip
Extract it to My Documents or <C:>\Program Files ( where <C:>\ is the
system root ), show hidden files, folders, and system files
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html
then close all programs and browsers, and click the Scan and save log
buttons.

.

Do you have Anti-virus software, if you don't that's the
problem probably, and depends what anti-virus software do
you use.

I use Kaspersky pre beta and it works perfect. The beta
version of kaspersky will be availble tommorow. Best
antivirus software. It contains Anti-spyware, Anti-
Phising and more.

Including registry guard and Proactive defense. KAV
scans "Scripts" and it has Web Anti-virus and HTTP Scan.

I'll second this recommendation. Antivirus software may well be helpful in
both getting a better name for this critter, and killing it properly.
