Tray icon sequence

Windows XP with all upgrades.


Two questions:

1. Does the sequence that the software is loaded on boot-up
determine the sequence of the icons in the tray?

2. Is there any way to force the icons into a consistent
arrangement, instead of them being haphazard?

You can try numbering the items in the Startup folder and see if doing that
sequences the icons in the order you want.
 
Numbering the names (I use that now) works for the quick launch list but I
don't think it would for the programs loaded during boot.
