Transparent backround of an image added to PowerPoint 2007?

I have just changed from office 2003 to 2007 and I am currently looking to
find how I make a background of an image transparent once added to a slide in
Powerpoint 2007.

Not sure if I quite understand your question, but if you mean change the
transparency of one color in a picture maybe this will help:

I believe you would have to use a paint program of sorts to make your image
background transparent then bring it into PowerPoint
