Transitive Trust Between 3 Forests

I need some help. I would like to connect 3 forests together via
trusts but I am told that you cannot establish transtive trusts across
more than 2 forests. If forest A and Forest B have transitive trusts
and Forest B and Forest C have transitive trusts, how can Forest C
access resources on Forest A? Would A have to setup a trust with C
directly?

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian

You didn't mention your server version, I'm assuming Windows 2003 since you're talking about forest trusts, which is only available in Windows 2003 Forest Mode

Forest trusts are transitive in the sense that each domain in one of the forests trusts each domain in the other forest. However, this doesn't mean that if Forest A trusts Forest B and Forest B trusts Forest C, then Forest A trusts Forest C. This can only be achieved when 3 seperate trusts are created

The same is true for domains as well, regardless of which version of Windows Server you're using. If I may explain further, 3 domains in 3 different forests, A, B, C, can trust each other if 3 seperate trusts are created between each other

I hope this helps
