Transferring outlook express email to yahoo mail

Hi,
I have a strange problem. I installed sbc yahoo dsl, which configured
outlook express to be the pop3 client of my yahoo account. BUT, the
"leave a copy on server" message in outlook express was unchecked. So,
the first time I ran Outlook express, it got all the messages from my
yahoo inbox to outlook express, and also deleted those messages from
yahoo.

Question 1. I want a copy of the messages back on to my yahoo account.
What is the best way to transfer my messages from outlook express to my
yahoo account? My current yahoo premium account allows for yahoo web
client to act as pop3 client also. If I choose forward from outlook
express, then all the messages back on my yahoo inbox will be from my
single account, and not from the original senders.

Question 2: Why didn't outlook express get the messages from my yahoo
sub folders? It only got the messages from inbox, and ignored all the
other folders.

thanks,
asimov.

I really do not know how to get that content back to yahoo as though it
wasn't downloaded.

But, I do know why OE didn't grab your subfolders. That is simply, that
POP3 doesn't know what a subfolder is. It knows what an inbox is. But
Aunty Diane's Pictures is not going to get downloaded. One of the many many
limitations of the protocol.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Would I be able to run a free pop3 server on
my pc, like mercury/32 or something, and feed it my outlook express
emails, and use the yahoo web pop3 client to bring the messages back?

If so, how do I go about doing it? Where does outlook express store
the emails? How do I feed it to Mercury, etc?

Or, is there some perl script or something I can use to create a
homegrown customized pop3 server which does what I want?

thanks,
asimo
