I want to install a new and larger hard disk in my computer to run the OS
from. I can't clone it with Norton Ghost as I get an error that says "Could
not fit translated attibutes into buffer size" I've used Drive Image 7 to
clone it and make the disk active, but then when I try to boot from the new
disk nothing works.

Is there any way to install a new larger bootable hard disk, and retain all
my settings and updates?

I don't think so. I have reinstalled XP on a second drive. I was unable to
transfer the info. I even had to reinstall some of my programs as many .dll
and .ocx files remained on the old drive. I did copy some of them over as I
found the need. Be careful as you may end up with a dual boot os. You need
to learn how to clean this up.

I'm assuming that you are setting up the new drive as the c:\ drive and
partitioning it with 2 or 3 logical drives.

Do you intend to keep the old drive and use it for programs and data.

While all of this seems complicated if you take it a step at a time you will
be able to accomplish it handilly.

I suggest you first set up the new drive as the second drive and then later
change over the jumpers making the new drive as the boot and primary drive
then install windows into the blank new "C:\" drive and go slowly from
there.

Good luck.
