Hope someone can help me. My monitor displayed a message -
hard drive failure - then proceeded to boot up .This
time no boot up and message on screen - no signal - I
shut the computer down and tried it later on and it
booted up o.k. I have the c:drive as the system drive but
i also have a second hard drive , can i transfer
everything that is needed for the system to work properly
on to the second hard drive and then purchase a
replacement hard drive without losing all the programmes
currently on the c:drive.Grateful for any advice .

If you believe the hard drive is actually going bad and it is not something
else, buy the new hard drive and a copy of Norton (Symantec) System Works or
Norton (Symantec) Ghost and use it to duplicate the drive to the new drive.

Also, interestingly enough, some hard drives (retail) come with the
applications you would need to do this anyway.. So no need to get Ghost in
that case.
