Transferring o/s and files from old HD to new HD.

Can anyone advise a method to do this please.

I'm using WinXp Pro (NTFS)and want to transfer a copy of
what's on my hard drive (120G)to another HD (same size),
so I can use the new drive with faster access and
redeploy the old HD for storage only.

I have tried active partitioning the new HD in
preparation for transfer of o/s and used full backup and
reinstall to new HD, but this did not transfer all files
and the new HD could not be booted.

Using 'Dynamic Disk' and 'Mirror' seems very involved
and, I feel, more of a process for permanent and
continual backup rather than, for my purpose, a one off
treatment to change drives.

Franklin, best way to do that is make an image of your hard drive and then
restore the image on the second hard drive.
Drive Image by Powerquest and Ghost by Norton do this.
