It's actually a lot more simple than people realize. Simply roll back your
IDE drivers back to window's default generic driver(do this in safe mode) and
when the computer shuts down to reboot, just turn it off, transfer the HDD to
the new computer as the master and turn it on. You'll have to update/install
the drivers for the new computer but XP shouldn't give you any trouble. I've
successfully changed motherboards several times with the same hard drive this
way.
