I would like to transfer some data files and lots of
image files from our old windows 98 computer to our new
windows XP computer. Needless to say the booklet that
came with the new computer glibly points out that files
and settings can be easily moved. I've had no luck!

Hi Jhea,
How have you been trying to achieve this (you say that you've had no
luck)? I'm not sure I understand how you intend to transfer the files; there
are several ways of going about this, of course.

Burn to CD if '98 has it. I uses a couple of boxes of disketrtres or
"floppies" when I upgraded from '95.

Hi,

There is a program in Windows XP called 'Files and Settings Transfer
Wizard.' On Windows XP open the Start Menu, open the All Programs submenu,
open the Accessories submenu, open the System Tools submenu, and then select
'Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.' This program should walk you through
the migration of files and settings from your Windows 98 computer.

Hope this helps!
