Transfer email from Windows Mail to Windows Live Mail

is there any way, other than by forwarding all the emails to myself, to
transfer my emails from windows mail to windows live mail?

When you install WLM it will import all your emails from WM.

I had already had it installed, switched to windows mail due to some issues
with WLM, then switched back. WM pulled all my emails off of my @live.com
email, and so they weren't available from WLM. I was able to get them back
simply by going to file ---> import and then choosing to import from windows
mail. First though, I had to go to the little menu icon and tell it to show
menus so that I could find this... Microsoft is trying too hard to look like
other OS's and needs to stick with what they are good at.

In WLM, you can get a one shot showing of the File menu bar by pressing
the Alt key. This was done to save vertical real estate for reading
messages, since modern widescreen laptops are lacking in vertical screen
space.
