transfer data in access

I understand that the data in tables from Microsoft access can be transferred
to Microsoft Excel. However, I wonder if access allows you to tranfer data
directly to other programs such as SPSS (statistical program). This program
has some similarities with Excel, but they're not the same, and if this is
possible, how can I do this?

This is really a question for the SPSS developer. Access can export
data to an .xls file, .txt, .csv, .xml, and also ODBC compliant
databases. Without knowing how SPSS can import the data, it is hard to
say.

Normally Statistics packages require 'denormalized data' whereas databases
store data in a 'normalized state'. The best bet is from access -->
excel --> spss. I know spss will read and excel file directly, I'm not sure
about a *.mdb file. You will need to look at the spss documentation. Some
stats packages read dbI,II,III,IV files, so maybe they now will read access.

As a statistician, I find I almost always need to take my data from a
database using a query to pull out the data rows in the format I need them
to process them in either SAS or Systat (I am not a user of SPSS). :>
